The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Council of Boston is committed to helping individuals and families facing financial hardship, unexpected crises, and everyday challenges. Through a network of local parish conferences, dedicated volunteers, community partnerships, and thrift store support, we work to provide practical assistance and compassionate guidance when it is needed most.

Our focus is simple: to serve our neighbors with dignity, respect, and understanding while helping them navigate difficult circumstances. Every request for assistance is treated confidentially and without judgment.

Person-to-Person Support

What makes the Society of St. Vincent de Paul unique is our person-to-person approach. We believe that every person deserves to be treated with compassion and respect, regardless of their circumstances.

Emergency Assistance

Depending on available resources and local conference programs, assistance may include:

  • Support during unexpected personal or family crises

Services vary by location and availability. Our volunteers will work with you to understand your needs and identify the most appropriate resources.

Affordable Clothing Through Our Thrift Stores

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Council of Boston operates five thrift stores throughout the Greater Boston area. These stores provide affordable clothing and everyday essentials while helping fund charitable programs that support neighbors in need. Many individuals and families benefit from access to quality clothing at affordable prices during times of financial hardship. Revenue generated by thrift store operations supports the Society’s local outreach efforts and assistance programs.

Referrals and Community Resources

Sometimes the best way to help is by connecting individuals with specialized services. Our volunteers can provide referrals to community organizations and public assistance programs that address needs such as:

  • Healthcare resources
  • Employment and job training
  • Transportation assistance
